M. M. Kalburgi (1938–2015)

Kalburgi was a Kannada scholar and rationalist whose critiques of superstition, idol worship, and right-wing distortions of history made him a target of extremists. His scholarship advanced humanist values and free inquiry. He was assassinated in 2015, part of the same pattern of attacks that killed Dabholkar and Pansare.
